Happy New Year

I
t's hard to believe that another year has come and gone. Another year that was filled with love, laughter, joy, ups, downs, highs, lows, dreams, fears, excitement, anxiety, adventures, failures, friends, peers and so much more. I know that for me, this past year was a year where our whole team really solidified who we are. We learned more about each other than every before, and in a sense learned how to better work with and off each other. How to support one another. How to encourage. I hope that you can look back on 2012 and see a team, an inner circle, or your besties that you are thankful for and proud of. People whom you feel honored to call your own. So here's to another wonderful year that passed, and a thanks to everyone on our team and in our lives that continue to support us. May 2013 be yours for the taking! Happy New Year.

GLIMPSE OF SPAIN

Jan
2
I
t seems like it was just yesterday that I was exploring the quaint Old Town of Marbella, driving along the coastal highways, and getting to photograph an amazing destination wedding. Sadly, it was almost three months ago and gone are the long warm days and laid back pace!

Traveling to Marbella, Spain and surrounding towns totally made me want to plan another big trip...in time! It was an action-packed week leading up to the wedding weekend, and my husband and I made sure to see as much as we could. What really stuck me while photographing my surroundings was how the details stood out. A bright blue door here, some intricate wrought iron there...things you just don't always see around here. It really made me remember to always pause and take in my surroundings, where ever they may be.

43 CHURCH SALEM WEDDING: Lauren & Kenny

Dec
27
I
t was a day filled with genuine emotion. From the their first look, to their vows and until the last dance; Lauren & Kenny couldn't have seemed happier to be tying the knot. It was their love for all things musical that brought them together. But it was their love for each other that has kept them together. I'm pretty sure that when Kenny gave a heartwarming toast to his new bride, that I teared up just a tad. Oh that Kenny... he's such a smoother talker!

Congratulations Lauren & Kenny! I just loved all the beautiful little details you incorporated to make your day oh-so special, and I am simply honored to have captured all the beautiful little moments that will make your day unforgettable for many years to come. Best wishes for a wonderful ever-after. Happy Thursday!
Salem Waterfront Hotel Wedding
We started the afternoon in Lauren's bridal suite at the Salem Waterfront Hotel & Marina. From the dress to the florals, Lauren incorporated details that mattered. Love this very unique bouquet by Blooms of Hope.
Salem Waterfront Hotel Wedding
Lauren's bouquet had this adorable charm that has been in her family for years. Such a personal touch!
Salem Waterfront Hotel Wedding
Lauren had only her nearest and dearest close to her as she got ready in her bridal suite. It was such a peaceful way to start the day.
And of course there's always room for a little bubbly to jump start the celebration.
I just LOVELOVELOVE when couple's opt for a first look. It's such a personal, emotional and beautiful moment - and quite frankly, it's probably some of the only moments the bride and groom get to themselves all day. Such a wonderful way to begin your wedding day.
It was FREEZING. I mean FREEZING!! But Lauren was being a trooper. That's my kinda bride.
Just taking in the quiet moments with one another before we moved into our photo session in and around 43 Church in Salem.
One of Kenny's most revered qualities is his ability to make Lauren smile - no matter how cold it is outside.
OH LAUREN -- go on!!!
Wrapped up the session with one of my faves from the day.
The ceremony was definitely a tear-jerker! Such beautiful vows.
The evening dinner and festivities were hosted at 43 Church in Salem. I just love the ambiance here, with the exposed brick and seating for no more than 100. It's a perfect spot for an intimate affair.
Lauren worked on so many of the details herself. Love the personal touch.
And of course, the evening wouldn't be complete without a barbershop quartet.
A leisurely dinner...
Followed by the first dance!
I'm pretty sure that Lauren and Kenny were on the dance floor all night long! You guys are such a fun couple, and it was a pleasure capturing your special day. Congratulations, and best wishes for all the years to come!

HARLEY DAVIDSON E-SESSION: Davina + Matt

Dec

F
olks... this lady is one hot ticket!! I'm not just talking about Davina's radiant beauty; but for as long as I've known her, she been a cool, free-spirited and amazing person to be around. It's no wonder she snagged herself a gentleman as caring and charming as Matt. Together, they are one of those couples you want to be friends with. They will seriously make you LOL.

When we first started working with Davina, she had this wonderful idea of incorporating touches of vintage romance into the engagement shoot. The idea developed one step further as Matt got excited about including his much-loved Harley into the shoot as well. I just love when both the bride and groom are equally excited about the shoot. It just makes the experience that much more fun for all of us.

Davina and Matt -- you guys are a rockstar couple, and we simply cannot wait for your big day coming up this Spring. Until then, have fun and be stylish!

It was a freezing cold day, but I was so excited that we caught just the mere end of some incredible Fall colors. This one last tree was holding on pretty strong to its red ruffles.
So classic, and so beautiful. I love how much you make each other smile.
The charming streets of Brookline.
Seriously - you guys are beautiful together... both inside and out.
Ok, now it's time for a little fun!! Sure Matt love Davina to the ends of the earth and back... but I think he's having an affair with his Harley too!
OMG Davina -- stop it.
And ladies, wouldn't you agree? Matt can certainly hold his own too!!
I just love the hair and makeup done by Shreni Patel.
YOWZA.
I can't decide what looks better... you guys or the Harley :)
And I'll end this post with what I think is a perfect reflection of Davina & Matt. Thanks so much for a fabulous session. Happy Thursday!

HINDU-SIKH WEDDING: Nishi + Harinder

Dec
19
I
t's been nearly a decade in the making. The love story of Nishi & Harinder started back in college. She was a giddy freshman. What started off as an innocent crush, soon blossomed into their beautiful love story. The adventures of medical school, residencies and masters degrees have kept these two apart for so many years post-college, but still their bond remained strong. Unwavering. And you can just tell, that both Nishi and Harinder were so sincerely excited to finally be together forever on their big wedding day.

They celebrated the wedding with a dual Hindu-Sikh wedding ceremony, honoring the traditions of both their families. Major kudos go out to Nishi for orchestrating this complex celebration. There were so many things to consider and rituals to be considerate of, but she pulled it off with high style!

Congratulations Nishi & Harinder. Your celebration was beautiful, and we had a ton of fun with you guys along the way too! Thanks for having such an inherent trust in our ability, and never once questioning our process or, more importantly, my crazy ideas!! As a result of really giving us creative freedom for the day, you guys really ended up winning in the end. Thank you, and best wishes for all the years to come.
I won't lie... we started this day EARLY. Like 2-hours-before-sunrise kinda early! But thanks to our handy video lights, we made these details shine!
Nice job with the bling bling Harinder!
Nishi had the mostly beautiful and elegant touches to her wedding ensemble.
Seriously girlfriend -- the sun is barely up and you're looking gorgeous!! Jealous.
While Boston Sound & Light" target="_blank">Goka Love dolled up Nishi from head-to-toe, it was super-sweet to see Nishi's mom and sister in the bridal suite with her as they helped her with the finishing touches.
Meanwhile, Amie was hanging out with Harinder as he had an authentic Sikh turban being tied.
So handsome he is!! And as a tradition, the ladies of Harinder's family added on some of the final touches to the turban.
It was only 8am, but it was time to get loud and get dancing!!
A full-fledge baraat was underway.
I wouldn't expect anything less from the team at Boston Sound & Light. These guys can get anyone dancing. Any time of day.
Seriously a party.
During the welcome rituals, both moms had a full-on HUG FEST!! So heartwarming to see the love.
As the Hindu ceremony begin, Nishi's mom welcomed her soon-to-be son-in-law in traditional Hindu style.
And here comes the gorgeous bride.
Both families approached the mandap to bring together the bride and groom as husband and wife.
They take their first steps towards becoming officially official.
And it looks like Nishi won the battle of 'he who sits down first shall rule the household'. Clearly!!
Love this quiet moment. Just taking it all in.
After the Hindu ceremony was over, everyone shifted over to begin the Sikh rituals.
This was our first Sikh ceremony, and I have to say that it was just so calm and peaceful. These guys just ooze serenity!
And of course there's the sword.
Another fleeting moment. You guys are freaking adorable together!!
And with a final bow, the Sikh ceremony came to a conclusion. Congrats... you just got married twice!!
But whisking the bride away isn't that easy! Nishi's girlfriend and family were there to make sure that Harinder knew what a precious part of their family he was getting!
No so fast!! You might be my new son, but she was my daughter first!!
After a little sweet talk...
... And a little negotiation...
They finally made a deal. Woot woot!!
After the ceremony we ventured off-property for our photo session. Harinder was pretty excited about the Porsche.
Finally -- a moment alone.
It's so easy to see how genuinely happy these two are together.
WOOP... watch out now!
And here's one of my favorites from the day.
He makes her smile... well he kinda makes himself smile too... so I guess it all works out.
MWAH!
We then had the girls and the wedding party join in for a little fun.
Hello sexy ladies!
The guys wanted to get a bit more rowdy than the girls... so we let them!!
And OMG -- 18 people in this wedding party, and somehow we made it work. It's so easy to see why you both have a tremendously wonderful group of friends that are so close you both.
After a quick outfit change, we geared up for a second round of photos before sunset.
SHUT.THE.FRONT.DOOR. You guys are killing me.
Harinder was taking quite the liking to his bow tie!! Definitely an LOL moment.
You guys looked just stunning for the evening festivities. Just stunning!
I loved the beautiful color palette that Nishi chose for the evening decor.
And HOLD UP. Now that's a grand entrance!!
So in love during their first dance!
And I just had to add this photo into the blog post, because Nishi's mom gave THE EPIC mother-of-the-bride speech. Nearly brought me to tears.
Well there were definitely some hilarious moments in the speech too!!
But see -- it's not just me being a sap. The speeches were definitely heartfelt too.
And it wouldn't have been Nishi & Harinder's wedding without a night of non-stop dancing.
OOOHH... he's going Gangnam Style folks!! Watch out sexy ladies.
And I'll end on this note here. This pretty much sums up the amazing day that was Nishi & Harinder's wedding. A day filled with love, laughter, celebration... and Nishi & Harinder were on top of the world!! Happy Wednesday.
